Materialism: Is the universe mechanical?

We see two fundamentally opposed tendencies in people across the world. One is spiritualism and the other is materialism. This week we will discuss materialism.

Can we find God by splitting atoms?

With the development of the mind, as part of the historical development of humanity, matter took form; as fragmentation increased, so did differences and hence diversity. On the other hand, as our ability to analyze by breaking things down into parts has improved, our perception of the whole has equally faded. Losing our perception of the whole has weakened our capacity to feel love and our ability to empathize. We have come to see the human being as a mere number or a machine in which an input can cause a certain output.

Being able to explain many things in terms of cause and effect has created the illusion that we can find every answer we are looking for in this way. Under this illusion, we attribute the answers we have not yet found to the underdevelopment of our minds and therefore to our inability to break things down sufficiently, instead of taking the holistic into account, which is the missing piece.

We assume that the evolution of humanity will continue to progress through mental development, and for this reason we turn our focus to technology.

Science or scientism?

Although science was born out of pure curiosity, it is no longer motivated by pure curiosity. With the materialistic inclination in us, we want to be able to control everything, to have power over everything and, if possible, to become immortal. Driven by this motivation, science is no longer done for science, but for power and control. In this way, science is reduced from its holistic nature to an activity of producing technology and everything that can only be called scientism is now referred to as “science”.

To think that the development of humanity will be achieved with the help of an external technology completely ignores the divine and spiritual nature of man. Even the “state of unity” that we all remember somewhere inside is trying to be artificially created by linking minds together (hive-mind). Such attempts run the danger of undermining man’s journey to become whole, independent and truly free; and turning him into a machine that can be controlled and crashed at any moment.

However, we don’t need our minds to be artificially connected for us to feel “one”. We are already connected through our hearts. All we need to do is to allow our awareness of this connection to unfold naturally by transforming our emotional pain and understanding the limitations of the mind that currently thinks it has the capacity to find every answer.

Reuniting the masculine power with the feminine power

Today, everything that cannot be controlled is tried to be eliminated. The feminine, by its very nature, cannot be controlled; and if you pay attention, everything that is feminine is either looked down upon or taken out of the equation. We are in such a period that we are faced with the glorification of transhumanism in order to eliminate all the problems the body can cause and overcome death, the transfer of pregnancy to the laboratory environment, the need for an artificial intelligence to manage us considering emotions are misleading, and many other similar developments.

Emotions are labeled as misleading because we don’t have the courage to touch our emotional pain and transform it. As the body is where the pain is stored, we are unable to listen to it and therefore unable to understand its real needs; but the solution is sought in eliminating it. Even the process of birth and its aftermath, where we are perhaps most likely to understand the divine nature of a human being, is tried to be detached from the feminine and taken under control. Since our urges weaken our power of control, our animal side, and therefore being human, is seen as inferior.

All the while, we lose sight of the fact that we cannot ignore our animal side, which is part of nature. Although we owe our civilization and all the structures we have created to the development of the mind, the mastery is no longer to suppress, ignore or try to remove the feminine, but to listen to the animal in us and understand how to harmonize these two opposing forces within ourselves.

That is why it is so difficult to be human, and our task in the present age is to understand the limitations of the mind and to restore our sense of oneness despite our current sophisticated ability to fragment and analyze. As long as we try to control everything as if we were gods, and as long as we don’t listen to the real need of humanity in our time, our fate will be no different than that of a truck with a flat tire.
